Local Events

A Local Centre in the Black Country
During the public consultation on the Joint Core Strategy for the Black Country Preferred Options from 17th March 2008 to 28th March 2008 the four Black Country local authorities held a series of local consultation events. 
 
Dudley Council held consultation events on the Core Strategy in each of the Dudley Borough regeneration corridors (between 10am and 4pm) to which everyone was invited.  These were drop in sessions where people had the opportunity to talk to a planning officer about the proposals:
 
  • March 28th Kingswinford Community Centre, High Street, Kingswinford
  • March 31st Dudley Council Plus, Castle Street, Dudley
  • April 4th Halesowen Cornbow Hall, 10 Hagley Street, Halesowen
  • April 11th Lye Community Centre, Cross Walks Road, Lye
  • April 16th Coseley Youth Centre, Old Meeting Road, Bilston
 
Walsall Council had the consultation bus available at the following venues:
 
  • Saturday 12th April Walsall Town Centre (outside Tesco) 10-3
  • Saturday 19th April Willenhall Market Place 9.30-12 & Darlaston Town Centre (outside ASDA) 12.30-3
 
Walsall Council had a staffed display at the following Local Neighbourhood Partnership (LNP)Meetings across the borough:
 
  • Monday 31st March: Aldridge South & Streetly LNP Aldridge School, Tynings Lane, Aldridge in the Whitman Hall from 7.00pm
  • Monday 31st March: Brownhills & Aldridge North LNP.at The Park View Centre’, Chester Road North, Brownhills from 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday 2nd April: Darlaston LNP at Bentley Leisure Pavilion, Bentley Road North, Darlaston from 6.00pm
  • Thursday 3rd April: Blakenall LNP the Blakenall Village Centre from 6pm
  • Monday 7th April: Palfrey & Pleck LNP at the Palfrey Community Association, from 6.30pm
  • Wednesday 9th April: Pelsall & Rushall at Rushall Community Centre, Springfields, Rushall.from 6.00pm
  • Tuesday 15th April: Willenhall LNP, Oakwood Lodge, Chaucer Road, Willenhall, from 6pm
  • Tuesday 15th April: Pheasey & Paddock LNP, the Beacon Church, Collingwood Drive, Pheasey from 6pm
  • Wednesday 23rd April: St Matthews LNP Community Room, Burrowes St from 6pm
 
Walsall Council also held drop in sessions to meet officers and discuss the Core Strategy at:
 
  • Wednesday April 16th, Age Concern Restaurant, Lower Hall St, Walsall Town Centre 2pm to 4pm
 
Wolverhampton City Council held manned exhibitions at the following:
 
  • 27th March - Central Library, Wolverhampton 11-2pm
  • 28th March - Mander Centre (located between TJ Hughes/Tesco) 11-2pm
  • 3rd April - Mander Centre (located between TJ Hughes/Tesco) 11-2pm
  • 4th April - Central Library, Wolverhampton 11-2pm
 
In addition, exhibition boards were located in Wolverhampton Civic Centre throughout the consultation period.
